Good Morning! (do you mean to wish me a good morning....)!!
I'll start with responses to some questions.
1) I use a thick white poster board for my background for all those who asked.
2) A vignette is a lego MOC built on on a base whose maximum size is 16 by 16 studs. It can be as small as you want. Anything larger is either a bignette or a diorama.
3) You may call me TheHobbit, or Hobbit98, for those of you who asked.
4) Thank you everyone for all the nice comments and likes yesterday! I can't believe I got 40+ likes combined on the three creations I posted.
Ok, as you know, I decided to do a small series of vignettes - a MOC built on a small base - on characters from the LOTR books whose role in the films was lessened.
Included will be a short description of the character's role in the book.
I have posted six already, and will post the next one once this one, Glorfindel, reaches 15 likes.
Please note that the custom characters are based on the films, not the books (In most cases).
Here is Glorfindel's Story.
Glorfindel, also known as Glorfindel of Rivendell later in his life, was an Elf Lord of a house of princes. His name means "Golden haired". He was one of the Firstborn, and not much is known of his life early in the First and Second Age.
During the Fall of Gondolin, Glorfindel fought with a Balrog while assisting the fleeing people. He cast it down, but as it fell, the Balrog grabbed hold of his golden hair and they both tumbled over a cliff.
The Valar were pleased with his bravery, and decided to reincarnate him. Glorfindel was then sent back to Middle Earth as a companion of the Istari.
During the Third Age, known now as "Glorfindel of Rivendell," for that is were he dwelt, he led an army of elves and Dunedain against the wicked Witch King of Angmar. It was because of him that the Witch King was defeated. As he fled, Glorfindel told his soldiers not to pursue him for, "Not by the hand of man will he fall."
A thousand years later, Frodo was stabbed on Weathertop and Elrond sent Glorfindel to search for the four Hobbits and Aragorn. When he arrived at the Bridge of Mitheithel, he drove away five of the Nazgul that had been guarding it. He also dropped his beryl, an elf-stone, as a sign to Aragorn.
Once Glorfindel found them, he made Frodo mount his horse, and they journeyed to the Ford. Nine Nazgul then attacked them, and Frodo galloped across the Ford. As the Nine began to cross, Elrond caused the Ford to flood, and Gandalf made giant white horses appear. Then Glorfindel, Aragorn, and the hobbits drove the remaining Nazgul into the Ford.
Glorfindel was Elrond's choice as the Ninth member of the Fellowship of the Ring, but Gandalf requested that Pippen go, and so Glorfindel remained in Rivendell.
After Sauron was defeated, Glorfindel took one of the last ships to Valinor and completed his mission, to help save Middle-Earth from Sauron. He was one of the most powerful elves ever, and was the mightiest in Middle-Earth during the War of the Ring.
Sorry that it is so long! He is my favorite elf!
There are different versions of this Story, but I used the one Tolkien liked the most.
Sorry if the writing is bad, I was in a rush!
Thanks again for the likes and comments!
